Yes, they come around periodically. It’s very cold here right now, and there’s no easy food sources, but my yard is full of birds because I put fresh food out every morning.
It was a beautiful hawk and I saw it pinning the bird in the snow on the ground. I couldn’t tell what the bird was until I went out after the hawk flew off. I recognized the dove’s feathers.
I know, but it’s just so cold here, and without my feeding them, I’m sure they’d really struggle to get any food or nourishment. It’s a catch-22, that’s for sure.
Hawk being a hawk, distressing but amazing. I seem to remember them visiting your yard last year.

It’s a jungle out there! There is no compassion in nature.

It’s sad for the dove but the hawk has to eat also. One reason I hesitate to put out bird feeders.
